I guess in a way all of our stories are similar. I was totally unaware of the support groups online. It brings a huge smile to my face. About three years ago I was with a girl and she cheated on me with another guy. We broke up shortly thereafter. Things weren’t going well to begin with. Shortly thereafter I met a wonderful young lady that I fell in love with and am still with today. About a year and a half after I broke up with the ex-girlfriend, she calls me and tells me that she has HPV, doesn’t know how long she has had it, but suggests I get tested. I broke the news to my current girlfriend that I have been with for a year and half at this point and we both go get tested. Her Doctor finds warts around her anus, while I had no visible signs, until about another year later when I had my first outbreak. She has had visible warts for about a year and constantly has to have them removed. She has recently had a biopsy and we will find out the results soon. When I found out I had HPV and spread it, I was absolutley devistated. I couldn’t sleep, couldn’t eat, couldn’t do anything. What did I do to deserve this? Someone else violated my trust and took my health into their own hands. I felt so terrible that I have done this to the girl I am with and love now. She did not deserve this. I care for this girl so much that I sometimes wish I never met her so she wouldn’t have to go through the things she is going through. I have since come to grips with this virus and realize that it is going to be a nuisance that I must live with. I can deal with this myself, but when she has problems, she feels that she cannot come to me because I get annoyed or aggrevated. I don’t, I get so upset because I feel responsible for her problems. How can I help her deal with this better? A few more questions, when I have no visible warts, and she has no visible warts what cause an outbreak? I guess I want to know, if I have no visible warts to come in contact with, and neither does she, does that mean we will not be able to trigger outbreaks with one another?

I am 17 and found out that I have HPV about four months ago. I fell into a deep depression and even now feel alone. I don't have any warts but had to have surgery for dysplasia.I really don't know what to expect. I'm scared cuz I don't think I'll ever be able to find someone who will love me with this. If there's someone out there who understands and can offer support please respond.

Would I have sex with a girl with HPV ?

I’ve seen several post from the ladies regarding their fears how men will react. BTW,I am negative for the virus as far as I know.I would not have sex with anyone who has the virus.In fact I have chosen to give up sexual innercourse all together out of fear of contracting a disease.I would however marry someone who had HPV.My biggest fear is contracting a disease and passing it on.If I was in a faithful relationship and I caught it from my mate,no big deal.I would want that person however to be honest up front and tell me her status.I don’t consider someone with HPV to be dirty,just a little unlucky.So girls,keep your heads up,be safe and someday your prince charming will ride into your life.Until then,happy masturbating

a female that gets genital warts eventually gettin cervical cancer? I told my girlfriend that I had this problem before anything ever happened. I didnt’ know a whole lot about the whole thing. I have read several places that maybe as many as 80% of sexually active people could have HPV and that only about 1% of those would ever know they had it. We are planning to get married, and I don’t know if she has it, and she thinks she doesn’t, but fact is, if we had sex even though it was protected, she probably does. It just kills me to think that I could have given the person I love something that could kill them…Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

pain 5 days after colposcopy – need advice

Hi all – I had my colposcopy last Wednesday. I didn’t bleed initially, but I guess Thursday, up until today i have had a VERY light flow of dark colored bleeding, which I’m honestly not worried about. But, I’m having lower abdominal pains, the likes of menstrual cramps. I am currently on birth control and it regulates my period and I’m not due to get it until the earliest of Sunday, and I never have cramps before the onset of my period. I’m concerned because stuff I’ve read on the web tonight (which I know can be bad) has said that lower abdominal cramping after a colp is cause to call your doctor immediately. I feel like either way, if it’s an early onset of my period, and somehow my pills aren’t working or something, or if it’s in relationship to the colp it’s not normal or healthy.

I’m a bit concerned, I’m taking a final tomorrow morning and there’s nothing I can do about this until tomorrow. Has anyone had any experiences like this or? Or does anyone know what I should be doing about this? Ugh, please help.

and after having 15 warts frozen (appx) I now only have one very very small one left! my doctor said my body is taking remarkably to the aldara. I had my cervical cyrotherapy, it wasnt that bad, i feel like a girl again! i know i will get more breakouts but to have the inital one basically done with feels so amazing. i can beat this shit!

So I talked to my mother on the phone last night for two hours, she told me that me contracting the disease is over with. i cant do anything about my past but i can get a handle on my future. And it’s not the end of the world. The doctor that is treating me on campus is a specialist in hpv. he has written papers and done tons of research on it the last 20 years. he told me that most of the stuff you read on the internet isnt true, that once the warts are gone, half the time the virus clears itself out of your system. and if not, i just have to go in and get one or two taken care of when they come from time to time. Its not going to ruin my life because I am not going to let it. I am going to get married. I am going to have babies. I am going to have a normal life. I think there is a reason i got this disease, I think God was trying to get the point across to me I have to clean up my act and stop being crazy with my life. I could have gotten something much worse, like hiv, or something that would make me sterile. but i didnt. i got something treatable that isnt painful. My mom told me “its just like regular warts…just in a squeamish area”. My younger sisters have to get treated every few years for body warts. This isnt that much different. I just need to live my life and not hibernate away because that would be letting it get the best of me. And the rest of you think about that too. Its not the end of the world, feel blessed that you had unprotected sex and only ended up with a minor viral disease and not something much worse.

Hi i’m a 27 year old male and have posted here a couple of times. I went to the dermatologist today for the second time and he says that I don’t have any warts. This was somewhat of a relief but unfortunately i’ve got something going on down there though. I did have a couple of small one’s which I treated with Aldara and they went away, thankfully, but now I have this rash, for lack of a better term, and I think it looks like warts-the doctor doesn’t. He said that it didn’t look like any wart he had ever seen. Has anyone else had a misdiagnosis or have this skin condition that kind of looks like warts. I know that I do have HPV because I did have one breakout and my girlfriend was diagnosed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m feeling very confused and just would like a straight answer but I’ve gone to three different doctors and have had three different opinions. It seems like no one is really sure what the hell is going on. Anyway good to vent a little frustration at this god damn thing.

Yes I will definatly keep everyone up to date on my own progress and what my doctor has to say. Im going in for my cervical cyrotherapy on the 17th so everyone pray for me cuz im scared! In regards to the question on condoms, my doctor said that it is never 100 percent effective using a condom when you have a breakout of hpv because any area not covered by the condom is able to spread, however his recommendation is if you want to have sex that you use both condoms AND vaginal spermicides that contain nonoxynol-9 or something similar. Also, i dont know if anyone knows this or not but smoking is a big no no because it has been found to be a co-factor in causing cellular changes of HPV. If you have any other questions you would like me to ask on my next visit just let me know

19 years old with HPV

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am 19 years old female with HPV. I got it from one of my ex boyfriends who lied to me and claimed he was clean. I never thought it would happen to me but it did and it was a suprise also. I have learned so much from this diease and it made me a stronger woman that I am today. I don’t even think about it and moan about it. I just go on with my life and make the best of it each day. I did gave it to my bf unknowing and if you was wondering..yes the warts did appear. Anyway My boyfriend Jeremy and I found out we had HPV and I was so upset also crying at the same time. Jeremy wasn’t upset and he held me the whole time when we found out we had HPV. I thought he would leave me becasue I have HPV and forget about me but he didnt. He did stay on my side and he still is. He is a very loving, caring and understanding man. I never had a guy like him before and it’s so wonderful. We have been together almost 7 months since May 12, 2002. We have been talking multivitams and taking real good care of ourselves so we are doing fine in our lives right now. We always have positive thoughts and we are very happy together.
