It’s funny – you sound just like me. I’m 22 and I found out in late October, and after great support from my parents, boyfriend and friends, it has made this whole experience so much easier to deal with. I spent the first couple of days crying about it, wondering what I was supposed to do – how was I supposed to live with this crap? But the thing is, and it sounds like you’re starting to realize the same thing I am, that this is so not a big deal. It is a huge pain in the ass granted, but it just calls for readjusting your life a bit, and having to deal with some really annoying things. But on the plus side – we know we have an increased risk of cervical cancer, and we know to never skip our exams and to take better care of ourselves and keep our immune system up. You made a comment about your doctor on campus, I also found out from the health center on my campus, I’m upset I couldn’t stay with them, but they don’t cover the follow up treatment I need. You’re really lucky to have a doc on campus that knows so much about this, when most doctor’s seem to be painfully unaware. Anyway I just thought you might like to know that there is someone with an extremely similar situation as you, who also found out and is going through all the same things. Keep your head up!

By the way - for anyone who’s had a colposcopy – a friend of mine said it was terribly painful – would anyone mind sharing with me what to expect, I’d like to know before I go in – thanks

ya… I’d second shooting DrB… if only for the sake of saving the next patient. Also… i never had lazer surgery, but perhaps the black spots were just a result of the lasers surgery burning the warts? Otherwise, I’d get that checked out yet again, and REFUSE to see DrB… ‘cuz black is sometimes a bad color when it comes to skin anomalies.

I had a really similar thing happen. Over a year ago I went to a university campus gyno with a strange little bump. She said since it was nothing and sent me home. It eventually went away. A few months ago, I got another one (looked exactly the same), and it became two, so I went to the free clinic in town. They recognized it immediately and I’ve been treated and was given some pretty good information. I think that it spreads so often because many doctors aren’t trained to recognize it, so we go off thinking that we’re fine, and end up spreading it to others before we ever find out.

hi im female so i dont know if this info is any use but i am so mad as this has happened to me twice now.the first time i went to the clinic i had what i would describe as little pink skin tags. i new they where warts as i didnt have them before.the Doctor lets say DrB told me it was nothing to worry about however a week later the ‘skin tags’ blossomed into white lumps(warts). So it was back to the clinic and i got them frozen off by a different doctor.Just today, i went back as the lumps are back (very small) but they are there.But guess what? got DrB again and strangly according to her i have no warts!!!.This is a load of crap i know the pink tags where not there a week ago and i am really frustrated. i have now come to the conclusion that im gonna have to treat myself.Can anyone recommend a treatment i could buy online? Also just started dating a guy 4months ago and although we dont have sex or gentitial contact i have now read i can pass the virus on through his hand touching me and then him touching himself. i may add DrB claims this isnt true however i am considering shooting DrB at present!! Please anyone with any answers please reply

well, not exactly a rash, but i coulda SWORN that i had a bunch of lil warts on the head of my penis, and at least 3 docs said that they’re actually “pearly penile papules”, often mistaken for warts, and only occuring in like one outta 10 males. They’re purportedly “completely benign”… harmless. But every time i look at them I freak out, but since i’ve noticed them, i’ve mostly forgotten about ‘em. I try and look at the positive side and figure that I have a naturally studded penis… who needs specially designed trojans when ya got ME? }:P

Thanks for the information regarding the condoms and spermicide. That really helps. As for the cyrotherapy. I had one exactly 1 month ago and it really wasn’t so bad. I was petrified and that actually wasn’t a good idea. I should have been more relaxed, but it was ok regardless. I wouldn’t necessarily say it was painfull, but I did feel cramping. Apparently, they do the procedure 2 or 3 times during the visit, but after the first time, you can’t feel anything. There really is no need to worry.

Yeah I got a question for you… have you asked your doc about oral and hpv yet. Just wondeirng cause the information on any part of HPV is so contradicting. thanks, and hope everything goes ok.

I keep hearing about these guys who are never upset. Is it a front, or am I
like the ONLY guy in the entire world who was totally knocked off my rocker

I also got it from someone who told me they were clean. When I told him that I had it, he deined it and told me I was wrong. Your lucky that your boyfriend stayed with you, I only hope that I can find one that will stay around when he finds out!
